This week in our classroom...
- Sight Words: Review week! Please review sight words that your students are having difficulty with (especially those "w" words)!
- Shared Reading: We are reading Pumpkin Jack this week by Mo Willems. Ask your child to retell the story to you!
- Writer's Workshop: Today we introduced informational writing. We discussed how we can write to teach! This week, we will be doing our first informational writing: how to carve a jack-o-lantern! We will be carving a pumpkin on Friday, following the steps the students wrote!
- Math Workshop: We are starting comparing numbers this week! Ask your child which number Mr. Alligator eats!
- Social Studies/Science/Health: We are learning about Christopher Columbus and why we celebrate Columbus Day!
- Daily 5 Centers: We have started our Daily 5 rotations! The students are doing a great job working on their stamina through our three rotations! Ask your student which stations they completed today! :)
Important Announcements
- Munchies with Men: Students invite one favorite man in your life to join you for some morning munchies at Kennesaw Elementary School. Dad, step-dad, grandpa, uncle, neighbor, friend or coach- Whoever is a great role model! Kindergarten day is 7:15 am-7:50 am in the cafeteria.
- Jump Rope for Heart: Please sign and return the permission slip so that your student can join in the fun on November 5th during school!
- Fall Festival: Please don't forget to bring in your items for our ABC, 123 basket! The festival will be on Friday, October 23rd!
- Conference Week: October 19th-23rd will be an early release week for conferences! We will be on our early release specials and early release lunch schedules.Please sign and return the yellow paper that was sent home today to confirm or change your conference date/time!
- Delayed Schedule Days: On October 16th, 26th, and 28th we will be using our delayed start specials and delayed start lunch schedules due to some special events at school (please click to view schedules).
